Starbuck&Associates: B-Corp Certification

At Starbuck Associates, we live by our Core Values - our clients will attest, we really do practice what we preach.

 

As a team, we wanted to take this one step further; to move beyond our great testimonials and officially evidence delivery against our core values.

 

So, with that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that we are now a B-Corp Certified Business.

 

What is B-Corp?

B-Corp is a certification awarded to businesses that can prove high standards of performance, accountability, and transparency. This is all encompassing, so includes everything from employee management and charitable giving, to supply chain practices and input materials. (Bcorporation.net)

 

B-Corp organisations must actively show they are committed to embracing high environmental and social standards; they should be ethically sound businesses that care about people and are conscious about their company’s impact on the wider world.

 

Achieving the accolade isn’t for the faint hearted - as of 2023, there are only 1500 companies in the UK with the certification. To ensure B-Corp certified companies maintain their levels of excellence, organisations must also resubmit for qualification every 3 years.

 

Our B-Corp Journey

 

For our founder, Paul Starbuck, B-Corp symbolises what he stands for as a person, a leader, and an employer; he’s always had high standards when it comes to ethics in business - both for himself and the people around him.

 

Paul’s business ethos (which has now become somewhat of a company motto), is ‘Winning with Style’.

This ethos is cemented in our Core Values, which are entirely aligned with B-Corps high standards. They influence how we interact with each other and our environment, work with our associates, and treat our clients.

We believe in building and nurturing, productive, trusting partnerships with our clients, associates, and team members. We offer a safe space for our clients to explore their options and realise their full potential. It’s an environment where open and honest conversations can be had, without fear of retaliation.

 

At Starbuck Associates, we believe that solid relationships are built on a foundation of absolute trust – so knowing our associates core values are in line with our own, plays a big part in determining who we work with.

 

There has, for example, been occasions where, although a partnership may have proven lucrative, we have decided to walk away as the other party’s ethics were not aligned with our own.

Coaching is all about partnering with a client; it’s a meeting of equals. Working alongside our clients, we initiate change and help them to unlock their own growth and potential.

We see building robust, long-lasting relationships with our associates as being fundamental to business success, so every effort is made to nurture these relationships.

We have a vested interest in the development of our clients and work to support our them in their personal and career goals. We also recognise the importance of supporting the members of our own team in their development.

Simplicity

Client’s find our coaching style easy to follow and always leave sessions with a clear understanding of their commitments ahead of their next appointment. Our literature and communication styles are jargon free and when it comes to pricing, there are no smoke and mirrors.

 

Fun

Life’s too short to be serious all the time. We do take our work very seriously, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy what we do. We know that having a healthy work life balance contributes massively to the emotional wellbeing of our team and clients, which is why we work to help individuals free up their time, so they can do more of the things they love.

 

Environmental Policy

As part of our B-Corp certification process, we had to evaluate our company’s environmental impact and in doing so, learned new ways to lessen our carbon footprint and have a positive impact on the environment.

 

As it stands today, as well as recycling and utilising electricity from renewable sources, we use virtual offices, have up-to-date technology, and operate on a mostly paperless basis.

 

We understand however, there’s much more that be done and are therefore hoping to increase our environmental score before our resubmission in 3 years.
